My 5 sustainable living substitutes

Hello Hello,

Thank-you for coming back to my blog! I really appreciate your dedication in reading my posts and engaging with my content. I hope that what I provide is of some value to you so without further ado, Lets dive in!

Today, I wanted to share with you 5 affordable sustainable living substitutes that you can invest in this spring. Now, these are not overly expensive and can be changed overtime

1) Glass or aluminium containers (these may be heavier than plastic but are really great in terms of your health *less chemicals absorbed through to the food* and the environment.) I got mine at a dollar store where they were under $10 per glass container, or you can get aluminium ones from https://valeriespantry.com/ though they are a bit more expensive.

2) Reusable cutlery/straw (I have bamboo cutlery that I take to work and use when I have take out – no more plastic forks!) I got mine from https://valeriespantry.com/. One of my all time go to health shops, if you are local and in Geelong, Australia go check them out!

3) Reusable canvas/rope bags (please don’t buy the biodegradable plastic ones they sell at the supermarkets are even worse for the environment because they breakdown into tiny little pieces.) I have invested in these over the years from various places and are usually a couple of dollars per bag.

4) Bamboo toothbrush (again, I got this from https://valeriespantry.com/. I think I only spent about $8 on this and I replace it at least twice a year. You can also get charcoal infused toothbrushes that can whiten your teeth (if you are into that). This was one of the first investments I made.

5) Cloth pads (for the ladies out there, sorry fellas). This was one of the hardest transitions I made in the past year. I didn’t know much about cloth pads and thought they wouldn’t work or leak etc. But the more that I have used them the more I love them! They are so easy to clean, they just go straight into the washing machine. You can also get different thicknesses for the different stages of your cycle (being more in tune with your body). This was by far the most expensive investment that I made but it was well worth it! If you are thinking about cloth pads trial with one and see how you go and build you unique collection from there, plus they come in so many beautiful patterns. I got mine from https://hannahpad.com.au/.

Well, that is the 5 sustainable living changes that I made and that you can make too! I hope that you find this helpful and If you are interested in my clean, chemical free skin care I will be discussing it in my next blog post on Wednesday, so stay tuned!

Stay positive,

Love Sarah
